It is.
Do you know what is also your choice?
How you react to the statement in the title of this blog post.
Your weight is your choice.
In a true dichotomy you would react either in agreement or disagreement what that statement. Of course there are going to be many different levels of emotions from all different kinds of people; but that is the point.
It's not the statement that is important. It is the way that you respond to the statement.
If you say: Yes, Rick, you are correct my weight is my choice. I can choose to be heavy or I can choose to be thin. This is in the realm of the choices that I make on my daily method of operations. I create who I am based on the decisions that I make.
This answer could come from anyone, fat to thin. These are the type of people that feel responsible for their actions and that truly understand that, while life isn't always fair, we get to adjust the odds every minute of every day.
Other people get ANGRY at the statement above. Truth be told the more angry people get the less likely they get this far into the article. These are the blamers. These are the people that blame their parents, society, Obama, George Bush, the left, the right, their neighbors, their teachers... their parents. These are the blamers. Not bad people. Just people looking for a way out without having to accept responsibility.
This whole topic came to me when I was sitting at the doctors office waiting for Teresa to be seen.
There was a lady sitting in front of us that was obviously overweight. In my mind I looked at her and said to myself. "your weight is your choice".
Sure that was judgmental. I know nothing about her. I don't know why she is overweight or what her story is. That is not what the point is. The point is that it doesn't matter who you are... YOUR WEIGHT IS YOUR CHOICE.
Why? Because the way you live your life is up to you.
People that are overweight in a general sense blame something or someone. Genetics, job, lack or money, stress, no time, don't know how, thyroid, injury, kids...etc, etc.
Again, don't get me wrong. This isn't everyone. Many people that are overweight know that they make bad choices.
It is my believe that people that are overweight lose the weight when they decide to lose the weight. How do you do that? Simple. You accept responsibility, you stop blaming others and you get to work.
If you are one of the ones that got MAD or ANGRY at the title of this blog post and you made it this far then congratulations! You are open minded enough to at read what was on my mind. Now let me take it a a step further....
None of the excuses that people come up with or being overweight hold water. NONE.
It has always been and it always will be about accepting responsibility, stopping with the excuses and quitting blaming other people for what you have done.
The decisions that you make will dictate the actions you take. When you really truly want and need to lose weight....TV becomes a little less important and McDonald's doesn't taste quite as good.
TO BE CONTINUED.
Next article will include steps you take to guarantee weight loss...
