Contentment and ambition.

To succeed to need to balance contentment and ambition. When you can master this skill the sky is the limit. You will be happy, you will be successful and you will live the life of your dreams.

This I promise you.

Why is this important?
In order to move forward you must first be on solid ground. I love how Casey Kasem said it. You need to value where you are before you go somewhere else.

This is important because in order to win in the end you must have some emotional victories along the way. There victories build on each other and momentum is gained.

Another way to look at it is that if you are never satisfied with what you have done you will never be able to believe what you can do.

So how does this help on your health journey? I will give you an example.

You are trying to lose weight. You have ambitions. You want to lose the weight. You want to be better and you want to feel better. Clearly you have ambitions.

You also need to have contentment. You can can't be content with where you are. You can't be fine with that. BUT you need to have a certain amount of daily contentment in what you have done.

"I walked for 60 minutes today and I ate right." Contentment.

That is an important distinction. When you go to bed at night you have to be content that you are on the right path and what you have done is right.

You also have to be ambitious. You have to look at what you have done and find ways to improve and do it better.

Notice the balance. If you are never happy and satisfied with what you have done the question is this: when will you be?You will never be happy if you don't find contentment along the way.

You always need small victories to keep you going.

I hope that helps you. Be happy with your daily progress. Go to bed at ease knowing that you have done your best.

But get up and fight like hell for your dreams....

As you know we have started registration for the August edition of the 30 Day Clean Eating Challenge. Here is what one of the July participants had to say:

"I absolutely loved the 30 Day Challenge!! Teresa did an amazing job.  I loved how organized and well thought out each week was, and I defiantly noticed a huge increase in my energy.  (I dropped a few pounds, too!) All though, I would like to say that we eat fairly well at my house, this challenge showed me new ways to incorporate more nutrient dense foods into my daily diet.  One of my greatest challenges is coming up with healthy meals and this took all the guess work out of it for me. I haven't taken the time to sit down to find new meals, but with this challenge you did all the work for me.  My whole family enjoyed the meals.  Now I have many delicious meals to add to my boring routine!" - Kristi

You

Do it for you. Don't do it for a t-shirt or a free bear or a medal.

Whatever you goal, whatever your race, event or number you are trying to hit don't do it for a physical reward. Do it FOR YOU.

I'll never forget the conversation that I had one time about a race I was putting on. It was just a Friday night trail run. Not a big deal and just a $10 entry fee. This later didn't want to do it because there was no "bling".

Do you really need to be "rewarded" with a stupid medal for running 30 minutes in the woods?

Don't get me wrong. My Ironman finishers medal is pretty freaking cool. If is displayed prominently in my living room.

A medal for a 5k? Seriously. That's silly.

The point is a very simple one. Don't do things to get things. You do for you. You do because you are disgusted with what you are what what you look like. You finish a 5k because you are driven to do it and you are going to do it no matter what.

Don't go to the YMCA every day for a t-shirt. Go everyday because you want to be around for your kids.

To many people in our society think that they deserve some sort of prize for showing up. No, you don't need the t-shirt for running a 5k. You need to show up and give your all because your kids mean something and you are sick of that gut.

Whatever the reason you do what you do you need to make it about the purpose and not the silly toy at the bottom of the Crackerjacks box.

My late father (may he rest in peace) taught me the same lesson 30 years ago. I told him that I wanted money to weed the driveway. He told me that if I want to do then do it because I was going to have a nice yard. I didn't deserve a reward because my reward was the satisfaction of a job well done.

Hope that makes sense.

Willing

What are you willing to give up to get what you want?

In Napolean Hills's classic "Think and Grow Rich" he talked about setting you sites on what you want. First you define what you what then you determine that you are WILLING to give up to get it.

What are you willing to get the health level that you desire and the body that you think you should have?

It is a powerful question.

I've had a conversation about value with my 14 year old a bunch of times. I tell him that in order to get stuff we need to give up something. If you want a video games system you need to trade money for it. To get money you need to trade time, knowledge or other stuff.

This is how our exchange system works. You give something to get something.

It's not just capitalism. It's life.

Want abs? What are you willing to give up to get your sexy abs? What price are you willing to pay?

Your health is not a God given right. It's not something that is given to you for free. You need to EARN your health. This is the truth.

If you want more from yourself then you are going to have to give more. Yes, this is going to require time and this is going to require money.

Nothing is for free in this life. NOTHING.

What are you willing to give up for what you want.

Here are some thing that you can give up to get what you want: TV time, fast food, soda, desserts, late night snacks, alcohol....

With your money you can buy the 24 Day Challenge, better food, a gym membership, a personal trainer, some personal growth books....

Here is the link to learn more about the 24 Day Challenge: www.advocare.com

You can also giving up some harder things. How about toxic relationships? How about bad habits like smoking or dipping?

The advertisements that you see telling you that you "don't have to diet and exercsie" or a "NEW and easy way" are lies.

There is nothing new and there is nothing easy.

The universal laws that Napolean Hill talked about in the 1930's are still true today.

If you want something you must first give something in exchange.

What are you willing to give up?

How about a couple of hours on Saturday morning? This Saturday we are doing a 2 hour fitness competition at ASM Fitness in Eustis. It's really going to be epic. It's a great change of pace from the everyday workout. If you are interested in giving it a shoot shoot me an email and we will get you singed up. It's only $10 and it starts at 8am. We would love to have you!

Did you get value from today's post? If so then please consider sharing. You never know when someone out there might need to hear this message!

To your success!

The Awkward Runner

You all know someone like this.

They run by your house everyday or perhaps on the treadmill every day. They are ALWAYS out there come rain or wind or heat or cold. It just doesn't matter to the awkward runner. They are committed.

Problem is that they hate it.

Problem is that they aren't getting good results.

So why do it?

Perhaps its you.

Perhaps you run all the time because you think that running is the best exercise. Perhaps you know someone that lost 100 lbs by running or that runs really fast. Perhaps you do it because you think you really HAVE TO run.

I am here to tell you that you don't.

Believe me I see it EVERY DAY. Last night I was sitting no my porch and I saw a guy jog by in our neighborhood. Man, he looked like he was SUFFERING. I think it was the same guy that I saw last week going up the hill by my house like he was in the throws of the death zone on Mount Everest.

Dude looked like he was about to croak.

What is the point?

Why stress yourself our both physically and emotionally trying to run or be a runner when it just isn't for you?

I am going to keep today's post short. I have 3 points to make with you that I think will help on your journey.

1. You are going to need to get uncomfortable on your journey to a better you. Honestly it's going to be hard so be ready for it.
2. You need to vary your discomfort and for the love of God don't try to "run" 5 miles when that's not your cup of tea. Run a mile then walk or get on the rower or in the pool or something. Just don't try to be a runner if you are not a runner.
3. If are going to become a runner then do it in short distances. If you feel like you are shuffling along then you have gone to far. If you can only run for 30 seconds at a good pace then so be it. Next time run for 45 second then increase the time that you are running steady and night DYING till you can do a few miles at that pace.

I love running and I am a runner. My fitness these days isn't what it used to be so I don't go out and try to run for 10 miles anymore. I'll run 3 miles and like it.

You should do the same if you want to get a benefit from your workouts. Don't beat yourself up trying to become a "runner". There are other ways to skin a cat.

Have you read my "No Excuses" blog yet. It's really a great way to stay motivated on your journey. Will you please click over and take a look? It's really special to me.

Bulky

I am going to do a quick post today and hopefully give you a pretty powerful perspective.

We all have used excuses. Each and every one of us. Sometimes we don't know that we are using excuses but usually they are. Excuses and reasons are not the same thing.

I am going to talk about an excuse that many use that is totally and completely unacceptable as far as excuses go.

Before I do that. Did you see my new blog? ---> http://ricksnoexcusesblog.blogspot.com/

Talk about excuses or lack of them. My new blog is going to be about my personal journey to compete in the CrossFit Games. I have lots of excuses but none of them valid. If you get a chance please check it out and share if you think you might know someone that will get value out of it.

As you hopefully know I have been in the fitness industry from 15 years. For many of those years I did the thing that I ALWAYS hated. I gave fitness orientations.

Basically I showed people how to use machines that I disliked and didn't much believe in. It was my job so I did it.

You cannot possible fathom the number of time I heard a woman say the follow, "I don't want to get bulky...."

How many YMCA's do you go to and this is what you see:

I sorry. You just don't see that.

Women don't get muscular and bulky like men do. Don't get me wrong. Ladies can get a lot of muscle but it takes a TON of work. Female (and males for that matter) body builders do a crazy amount of working out, eating in the middle of the night and supplement like crazy.

So why do women think that if they lift weights they are going to get bulky? I mean, does the average lady about to start a workout program REALLY think a few trips are the "circuit" is all that it takes to look like the woman in the above picture.

Sounds ridiculous, right?

That is not the real story.

The real story is this: FEAR.

We fear the unknown. We fear failure. We fear looking bad. We fear being embarrassed.

The fear is real. When we fear we reach for whatever we can to feel safe. In this case a lot of ladies make up the excuse, "I don't want to get bulky...."

It's a way to feel safe. These are real emotions and it's part of the battle that people face when getting ready to get in shape.

Not going to lie. It's hard.

So do women get "bulky" when they lift weights?

In a word, not really. For the most part women don't add muscle they way that men do because of a lack of testosterone.

With a high intensity workout program, proper diet and supplementation woman CAN strip away most of there body fat and add muscle. This takes many months and years for the average lady.

Most women that lift weights will be more toned, wear a smaller size and look better both in clothes and naked.

Wait. What? That is what weight training does?

Yes it is. Cardio will not do that for you. Weight training will.

If you think weight training will make you bulky I am here to tell you that it will not.

If you think that cardio is the "key" to weight loss I am here to tell you that it is not.

You need to combine weight training with high intensity functional fitness, some "cardio", a balanced diet and supplementation and you will lose fat and perhaps gain some muscle.

Before we finish there is one thing I want to address real fast.

Some women do put on some muscle. So what? Why is putting on muscle a bad thing? Not everybody is a size zero skinny mini. You are who you are. If you are going to put on some muscle do it.

Not gonna lie. Muscle is sexy. When I first started dating Teresa she was 119 but about 22% body fat. Now she is 132 but 14% body fat. She has guns and they are SEXY.

Embrace your muscle. Don't think it is a bad thing and don't use getting "bulky" as an excuse not to workout. That is silly and you know it.

Teresa is also very passionate about this subject. She did a blog post over the weekend. Her perspective is the same but it is from a women's point of view... complete with pictures!

10 Rules to Eating Healthy on a Budget

I hear people say all the time how expensive it is to eat healthy. All. The. Time.

"If only healthy food was cheaper, I would eat better..."

A load of crap that is. A total load of crap. I am about to blow the doors off that lame EXCUSE right now. Eating healthy doesn't have to cost a lot. Putting good food in your body is a choice that virtually all of us have.

In today's blog I am going to give you 10 ways to eat healthy on a budget.

I will tell you right off that bat that my goal is not to make life easier for you. Eating healthy is hard. I am also not going to tell you that it is going to take less time. No sir! If your excuse for not eating healthy is "I don't have time..." then I would give you some different answers. Eating healthy does indeed require effort, time and dollars.

Isn't your health important to you? Are you really going to give your health to the lowest bidder?

Sometimes it is a matter of perspective.

Here are the 8 rules to eating healthy on a budget.

RULE #1: Set a food budget. This summer in the house it is my wife and I, Teresa's mom, Teresa's 2 kids (age 8 and 12) and sometimes my 6'2" 14 year old son. This month we are doing the 30 Day Clean Eating Challenge (the adults are). This should drive our food budget up but it does not because this is how we normally eat. We budget $160 per week for food.

That is $23 per day. Ends up being roughly $5 per person per day. (My son Colby isn't with us very much and he hardly eats anyway so I won't include him just to keep the numbers as accurate as possible) 5 people eating healthy for $23 per day. That's how much food we buy. PERIOD. No more no less. More on this later....

RULE #2: Make a plan then make a list from that plan. When I say "make a plan" I mean MAKE A PLAN. 7 days of breakfasts, snacks, lunches and dinners. When you are super meticulous about your plan you tend to not buy fluff. You buy what you need and that is all.

Also, STICK TO YOUR PLAN. I'm not gonna lie. I remember trying to do this why my ex wife and it was a train wreck. She would decide to make something random because the mood stuck her. Screwed up the whole plan.

Don't do this. Make a meal plan and stick to it.

RULE #3: Don't hold inventory for Publix. Seriously. Why do you need to stock up on crap that you may or may not need? I am all for using coupons and stuff but you don't need to carry inventory. Use what you have in your fridge and cupboards before you buy more. I bet that most of us could eat for a week on stuff that we have after we run out of food.

RULE #4: Do your research. I'll be honest. Coupons are cool and sometimes you can get a good deal but most of the stuff that is on sale with coupons is crappy food that you don't need. Look for coupons for things like cleaner and shampoo. When I say research I mean: which store have the cheapest fruits and vegetables. Where can you get the best deal on meats. Sometimes Sam's Club or Costco is a really good deal. Sometimes you over buy. Be careful. Once you make your list look around for the best deals.

RULE #5: Be consistent. Make you meal list on Sunday. Go shopping on Tuesday. Have the same breakfast, lunches, dinners and snacks. What if you know exactly what to buy EVERY Tuesday because you you have the same meals every week with little variation. This will save on time and as the weeks go on your will learn where to buy better food at a better price.

Also, make a habit of doing a "clean out the fridge day". Be honest. Show of hands. Who have handfuls of rotten grapes, tomatoes and a mango sitting at the bottom of the refrigerator?

Come on. You know this happens! Its a waste of money. Stop it!

RULE #6: Water is free from the tap. Drink it and like. Check it out. If you buy a two liter of Coke per week, per person, for a family of 5 like ours is going to cost you an extra $5-10 per week. Add to that juice, coffee and the other things that we drink the cost can get prohibitive.

Honestly, I drink my water with Spark which is not in my food budget. If money is really an issue with you and you need to save then you will live with strait water.

Visiting the vending machine for drinks in when the real money can add up. Talking about that next....

RULE #7: Going out to eat and visiting the venting machine. It you TRULY want to eat healthy then your food budget will be 100% what you buy in the super market. 100%!

Remember the numbers I told you early? Eating healthy for $5 per per person per day? Try going out to eat and see what that does to your budget. Let's take a look at some made up numbers that could be pretty accurate. Check this out:

1 time going out to eat at Applebees: $50+ (entrees 2@$10, 2@$ plus drinks and tips)
Going out for pizza: $30+
5 lunches at work: $35+ ($7 each)
One soda from a vending machine each person, each day: $45+
3 stops at inconvenience store: $18+ (assuming $6 each stop)
Bottle of wine for mom and six pack of beer for dad: $20+

TOTAL: $188 <--------- crap="" holy="" nbsp="" p="">
Yeah. That is more than my food budget. Are these number our of line? OK. Which ones? I would argue that these numbers could be a lot higher.

It is such crap that people say that eating healthy is so expensive. Of course it is a burden to spend $100+ per week on groceries when you already spend nearly $200 on convenience.

RULE #8: Prepare meals in bulk. A package of beans is a couple of bucks. Same goes for a package of rice. Soak them up. Cook them up. You feed a family of 5 for a couple of dinners and lunches for under $10.

This also helps to save time. My advice to people is that when you discover a meal that your family really like you cook double the amount and now it's dinner and two lunches.

RULE #9: Pack for the road. We went to the beach on Saturday. It cost us no extra. We packed lunches into a small cooler and brought water bottles.

Lunch should not be Subway. Lunch should be from a sack for dad at work and the kids at school.

My son had a camp last week. Each day for a lunch he got scrambled eggs and fruit. He ate healthy and it didn't cost a lot of money. If you head out the door without a PLAN for how you are going to nourish yourself until you get home then it is YOUR FAULT if you spend extra. Don't blame it on the expensive food. Blame it on you not making the right choices.

RULE #10: You and your kids don't need desserts and treats. You really don't don't. You want treats? Add money to your food budget but DO NOT buy packages of popsicles, Little Debbies, and the like and claim you don't have money to eat healthy.

THAT is on you. It's not about the price of food.

From today's blog post you didn't get any tips on where to buy cheap healthy food. You didn't get tips on how to prepare a healthy meal for pennies....

Why? It's not about the details. It's about YOU and your PURPOSE. It's about building a foundation and then building your life. When you develop the right habits and have the right priorities then the details get filled in.

The point of this article is to demonstrate to you that eating healthy is a expensive is a bull shit excuse and not you should know it. It's a priority. It's a decision. You are making it right now. It's on you.

How well are you feeding your family? What are the choices that you are making?

I hope that this blog today helped you. I hope that maybe you got a little pissed off at me and maybe at yourself. Sometimes anger will spur you to action.

If you still blame the food industry for your issues then there is nothing that I can do for you.

Did you get benefit from today's post? If so then please bless others by sharing on social media. To do that go to your Facebook and post this link "www.yourbestfitnesscoach.com" or simple click "share".

What say you?

Went to beach today.

As a trainer and general fitness nut I tend to observe people from a fitness mindset. Are they fit? Do they look fit? Are they doing fit person things?

I admit that I was little disgusted at the way people look at the beach.

Not a lot of clothes for people to cover up a lack of good eating and exercise.

While laying in the sun I made an  observation about people in general. Please don't try to fact check these stats because, frankly, I completely made them up.

People at the beach or anywhere else for that matter. Let's assume this is a cross-section of society. Let's break them into categories. I know. Labels are for jars. Relax. It's just an observation.

Category #1: The "don't care and it shows" crowd. You know this type. Gut hanging out. Smoking cigarettes. Drinking soda. Red Bull. These are the people that don't go to the gym and don't really care to. They eat whatever makes them happy at the time. They are on medication. They generally don't feel or look good at the beach.

Not gonna lie. This is 60-70% of the people. Don't believe me? Look up the real stats. Last I heard over 60% of people are over-weight or obese. 6-7 out of every 10 people at the beach look terrible. Let's call a spade a spade.

Category #2: The pretenders. This is 20-25% of the people. Come on. You know there people. They go to the gym a couple of days per week and don't sweat. They walk with the ladies once or twice a month and claim to walk all the time. They eat "salads" every day (or actually once or twice a week) yet hit the drive through on a regular basis.

These people may or may not look pretty good. More often then not they are "skinny" fat. This might be a lady that is 115 lbs yet 30% body fat. We see it ALL THE TIME. At the YMCA we called these people the "start stoppers". They join the gym (in January) and end up cancelling their membership in July (they stopped coming in February).

The pretenders aren't really fit but they aren't super unhealthy looking either. They may even do a 5k everyone in a while just to fit in with the athlete crown.

Category #3: The fit and it shoes. This is where Teresa and I find ourselves. Sadly this is less than 10% of the people now a days. Our society is so fixated on the quick fix and the "easy" way that we have forgotten how to work hard and empower ourselves.

Everyday we see these people. Everyday we either envy them or we join them. Sometimes we decide to become one of them.

It's always up to us.

Let me say that another way.

We DECIDE what category that we want to fit into. WE DECIDE.

Our bodies and our health are our responsibility. You decide the category. Which is most appealing to you?

What say you?

Hope that you are having a great weekend. If you want to help motivate some of your friends would you please share this post on your Facebook wall. We would appreciate that!

I will finish with a final thought on this Saturday.

Every blog post that I do has one theme. Have you noticed that? The theme is that regardless of who you are, where you are, what you are or any other factor you can think of... you are responsibly for you and your health is YOUR CHOICE.

I hope to help you make the right choice; that's all. Let me know if you need help. We are here for you.

To your success!

10 Keys to RAPID Fat Loss

I said in yesterdays blog that today I would tell you WHAT TO DO as opposed to what not to do.

If you missed it please read: http://yourbestfitnesscoach.blogspot.com/2014/07/top-10-weight-loss-mistakes.html

You know the mistakes but what is the plan.

OK, so you want to lose weight. The first thing you need to do is that you need to focus not on weight loss but on FAT loss. You can cut off your arm and lose 20 lbs. That isn't a very good idea. Let's focus on losing fat and not weight.

So here we go.

KEY #1 to RAPID FAT LOSS: Find your purpose. Like I talked about yesterday, trying to impress people that are just trying to impress you isn't a good purpose. Focus on your family and what you love.

Think back to when you were skinny or in better shape. What did that feel like in comparison to what you feel like now? This could be the start of your purpose. Do you have a friend just diagnosed with diabetes or cancer. Now we are talking about purpose.

Your reason for wanting to lose weigh needs to keep you up at night.

KEY #2 to RAPID FAT LOSS: Get help. You need a coach. You need an accountability group. You need someone that is going to hold your feed to the fire. YOU NEED HELP.

I talked about this yesterday. "I am going to change my diet and start to exercise".

No you are not.

You don't need to spend money here. You can and you should because when you spend money on coaching your coach will be a little harder on you. Either way you need someone you look you in the eye and tell you that it is NOT ALRIGHT to eat that crap and skip your workout.

We have an accountability group we are leading right now. It's called the 30 Day Clean Eating Challenge. If you are part of that you KNOW how valuable it is. If you are not then you should take a look at it.

KEY #3 to RAPID FAT LOSS: Eat more food.

Holy crap that sound totally wrong. You need to eat less food to lose weight. That's what everyone says. Maybe this is the reason that two thirds of our country is overweight.

Just sayin'....

Here is what you need to do. 4-6 times per day you need eat 200-400 calories worth of high quality food including lean proteins and nutrient dense carbohydrate.

STOP THE PRESSES! "You said yesterday not to count calories.."

Indeed I did say that yesterday. I was talking about daily calories and I was talking about the mistake you make in thinking that 1500 calories of cake, ice cream and Fruity Pebbbles is the same as 1500 calories of banana, brown rice, couscous and chicken breast.

If you think that eating less food will help you lose weight you are probably right. But if you want to lose fat you need to fuel the muscles and to do that you need to eat more high quality food.

Don't eat crap. No sugar. No pasta. No white bread or white rice. No creamy dressings. Eat whole grains, fruits, veggies, clean meats, nuts seeds etc. etc.

KEY #4 to RAPID fat loss: Work your ass off at the gym. Ever seen the Biggest Loser? How do you think they lose so much weight so fast? Are they doing 20 minutes on the treadmill at 40-60% max heart rate and a trip around the circuit?

Absolutely not.

They are doing burpess, swings, running, pull-ups, push-ups, carrying stuff around, jumping over things and basically busting their asses.

Are you doing that? If you want to shed body fat you need to go to the gym and go to the gym often. You can work SO MUCH HARDER then you think. What ever you are doing, do more; every day.

If you are not sore and tired in the morning then you are doing something wrong.

KEY #5 to RAPID fat loss: De-stress. Not gonna lie. Don't have a lot of suggestions for you on this one.

If you are stressed out then you will not lose fat. Sorry, this is a fact.

Focus on the good in your life and the potential. Act with an attitude of abundance instead of scarcity. Act like your are meant to succeed and you will succeed not matter what. Stop acting like the world is to blame for everything and you are getting the shaft all the time.

Life owes you nothing. Realize that and make what you want out of life.

If you are having issues with stress then you need to figure out what is causing stress in your life and FIX IT. Start with the little things and work your way up.

KEY #6 to RAPID fat loss: Walk. If you have any weight at all to lose you need to walk for 30-90 minutes each and ever day IN ADDITION to the workouts that you already do.

When you walk you get sunshine and fresh air as well. BONUS.

Yes this takes time and no you don't need to watch TV 3 hours per day. Remember your purpose.

KEY #7 to RAPID fat loss. Find an active hobby. Along with that I would say find active friends to do your new active hobby with.

What do you do when you have free time? Sit at the beach? Go out to eat? Go fishing? Stop that crap. Get you butt on a hiking trail some where. Go rock climbing. Go biking. Go roller blading.

Find an ACTIVE hobby. Find a hobby that requires you to sweat a little or maybe a lot. This will help with your stress as well. BONUS.

KEY #8 to RAPID fat loss. Avoid the scale in favor of body fat calipers. I cannot tell you the number of times we have worked with people and they tell us they have lost 4-5 lbs. Sometimes it's a little bit of a letdown UNTIL we test their body fat. Sometimes we see people that will put the right things in their body's and workout like crazy only to see the scale move a couple of clicks. There real story is that they GAINED 8-12 lbs of muscle and lost a TON of body fat.

We recently helped a girl named Emily who "only" lost 5 lbs on the scale but in reality lost 19 lbs of fat.

My suggestion is that you find a qualified person to do measurements with a caliper or, at the very least, do girl measurements with a tape.

KEY # 9 to RAPID fat loss. Establish rules in your life when it comes to what you put into your body.

No fast food.
No soda.
No candy.
No donuts.
No pastries.
No Ramen Noodles. READ: http://yourbestfitnesscoach.blogspot.com/2011/04/top-ramen.html

In other words you need to make rules for what you eat just like you make other rules in your life.

Let's say you and I are hanging out at the gym. Some dude comes up to us and tries to sell some crack. Do you buy it?

You have a rule that you don't do crack just like you have a rule that you don't pick up kitchen knives and stab people. I hope so at least...

KEY #10 to RAPID fat loss. Advocare 24 Day Challenge. I am not gonna lie. I make my living as a distributor so I'm a little biased. Guess what? If this didn't work and wasn't safe why would people get results like Jason and Rachel.

Or how about Mike who is down an astounding 130 lbs. He originally wanted to lose weight because he couldn't fit on a roller coaster at Disney. He was a little embarrassed in front of his kids. Sounds like a strong purpose. He started with the 24 Day Challenge.

Our best friend Christy lives in Vermont. She is the one that we went to visit this summer. A few years back she got a little discussed with herself. She did the 24 Day Challenge. She looks a little better today down 30+ lbs.

I could post before and after pictures all day long. You get the point. The program works. If you want to learn more about the 24 Day Challenge then you can check it out a couple of ways:

The 4 Pillars of your workout

Today I want you to take a look at your workout in a different light. Sometimes when you change your perspective you can create BIG changes and BIG results.

You want to get results from your workouts, right?

I want you to get results.

The problem, quite honestly, is that most people don't get good results. The short answer to "why" this is really is simple in my mind. We don't get results because most people don't understand the mindset that it takes to get results. Our expectations are different from out outcomes so we get frustrated and give up.

So it stand to reason that if we change our thought process and we change our expectations we should have better results. True?

I think so.

Today I am going to focus on one single solitary aspect of the health and fitness paradigm. We are going to look at the actual workout. We are going talk about the 4 pillars of the workout that WILL get you results if you understand how they work.

Many people don't succeed with their health goals because they focus on one thing when they work out. They run, do classes, lift weights, do a circuit or do a sport.

These are all great things but they ignore the 4 pillars of the workout that I am going to go through in a minute.

If you want results you will not get them if you just do one activity. Change you expectations here. If you run a lot you will get faster but your fitness will never get to what you want it to be. Again: TRUTH.

So now I will present to you, in order, the 4 pillars of your workout. You must consistently battle with each of these pillars. When you learn how to do this guess what happens? Yep. You are the one with the abs, the energy and the beach body.
Teresa works hard so she looks strong and fit!

PILLAR #1: Your mind and your body.

When you workout you must push your body. You must tell your body to do what it needs to do to finish what you are doing.

Sometimes you may feel to tired or winded to go on. This is when the workout counts. This is when it means something. It's called a WORKout. It's not called a COMFORTABLEout. Suck it up and push your body beyond what you think you can do.

To get results the most important thing is that you us your mind to push your body beyond it's limits. If you give up and give in then you will not succeed. You must push yourself!

PILLAR #2: The movements. To get truly fit you focus on movements. You do them right first then you add speed. This could bring up the discussion of working "muscles" versus working "movements".

We will talk about that in another blog post. If you have been following me for any length of time you know that we NEVER work muscles. We ALWAYS work movements.

With pillar number two you need to battle with the movements.

Whether it's running, biking, push-ups, squats or bench press you need to go to war with the movements. You don't always need to win but you always need to fight like hell. Don't take short cuts. Fight the movement till the end.

PILLAR #3: The clock. Your workout is going to have some sort of clock. This could be reps as well. That is a version of a clock.

Train your mind to do the movements properly for the whole 10 reps. See how this ties together?
Command your mind to, with proper form, do continuous wall bars for the next 30 second till the time runs out. It all goes together.

Kind of an interesting way to look at your workout, right?

You fight the clock every time. You fighting with all your heart means you win. Fight to win.

PILLAR #4: Other people. Check this out. You are running a 5k. There is a half mile to go. You can see the finish line. You are tired but you DECIDE to push to catch some guy (PILLAR #1). You lift your chest up, drive your knees forward and pick up the pace (PILLAR #2). You can see the finish line getting closer. (PILLAR #3) That no-name dude is getting closer to you FIGHT to catch him. (PILLAR #4)

Sometimes when you are working out with a partner you try to best the he or she in the bench press or rowing 1000m or something.

Throw down a challenge with another human being and go after it.

What do you thing SPORTS are? How fun would basketball be if there were only one team?

You use other people to push you because they will. They certainly will! When you are pushed harder then you WORK harder. When you work harder you get better results.

Look, I have muscle now!

So take a look at these 4 "pillars" of your workout. If you aren't getting the results that you want then maybe one of your pillars isn't quite as strong as the other ones.

Very few people will look at workouts this way. Its goes to reason that very few people are super fit. I wonder if there is a connection. Hmm....

So, if you want to get better results from your workout you need to learn to focus your energy and efforts on working hard, doing the movements properly first while adding weight, speed and reps next, working against the clock and using others to help push you.

You do this and you will get results.

Today's post focused on what you do with your body. When you put into your body is just as important.

There is still time to sign up for out 30 Day Clean Eating Challenge. This programs is really going to change a lot of lives.

Since we talked about working out today I want to leave you with a quick video that I did a while back. If you are interested in some supplements to help you recover then you owe it to yourself to watch!

Do you know anyone that might get a benefit from today's post? If so then we would appreciate it if you shared it. THANK YOU!

My Top 7 Rules for Eating Out

Who doesn't LOVE to eat out. We all do. It's so easy to go out and not have to worry about the dishes and the food press or anything for that matter.

Getting waited on is an added bonus.

"Would you like more water?"

"Why yes...I believe I do want that bad boy topped off."

But there is a catch.

Eating out is SOOOO unhealthy.

Or at least it can be.

In today's short blog post I am going to tell you what my top 7 rules are for eating out. Do whatever you want but if you are trying to maintain or enhance your physical results then you need to stick with these 7 rules. Or just be over weight and unhealthy. Your choice.

RULE #1: Stay away from fast food and buffets. You may NOT ever pass through the doors of Long John Silvers, KFC, McDonalds, Burger King, Golden Coral, 5 Guys etc. If you EVER do pass though those doors you CAN NOT make any good choices. I would say this also goes for the chains like Applebees, Red Lobster and Outback. Go to local places to get better food.

As a matter of fact, if you frequent the "franchise" establishments then you have already make up your mind that health is not a concern for you or your family. Harsh? Yes. Truth? Yes. Is 2/3's of America fat because they are getting burgers at Burger King instead of salad. No. We are fat because our mindsets are wrong.

Change you mindset first. Make good decisions second.

RULE #2: Drink only water. Quick trivia. You order Coke. How many calories? Answer: Who the hell knows because likely you will have like 6.

Drink water only. That right there is a rule that you must abide by. Again, do you want or need to be more healthy. Suck it up. Drink water.

RULE #3: Don't order anything that is "creamy", "breaded" or "fried" or has the word "pasta". These are horrible food choices. When you are eating out your good choices are going to be hard to make. Look for chicken and fish. Look for veggies.  Speaking of dressing....

RULE 4: Dressing on the side. Don't get salads unless the dressing can be on the side. Oil and vinegar or Red Wine Vinaigrette are good choices. Ranch and thousand island are not. Do I need to list the ingredients of salad dressing? Or the calories. I think not.

RULE #5: Pass on the appetizers and the bread. Yeah.... it's gonna be tough at the OG. Nachos are out. Remember number 4? The words "fried" and "breaded" are going to be in a lot of appetizers.

Want to get ill? CHICK HERE to see the calorie content of Applebee's foods. Yeah, Cheeseburger Sliders 1200+ calories. Gross. Just gross.

RULE #6: Pass on desserts. The meal choices are hard enough. Why flub everything up by ordering a pricey dessert that is 4 bites and 1000 calories? That is dumb. Enjoy your meal. Dessert does nothing for you but add fat to your butt. Trust me.

RULE #7: Eat out no more than once every 2 weeks. Repeat after me: "I WILL EAT OUT NO MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS."

Can you make decent choices eating out? Sure. Are there good choices. Well.... kinda.

Who needs that kind of pressure? Seriously. Who else goes into a restaurant with the best of intentions then some waiter walks by with Supreme Nachos.

"I'll have what they are having....

Don't get me wrong. I love eating out. You know what? Check this out. For the last few months we have gone out MAYBE once every three weeks and we notice a difference in the way we feel.

It's the God's honest truth.

Eating out every so often isn't going to kill you. Enjoy yourself and enjoy the company. Make good choices but don't beat yourself up over bad ones. Proactive the 80/20 rule. Do your best and in the end you will be fit and healthy if you live a fit and healthy lifestlye.

Going out to eat every so often can, and will, fit into that lifestyle.

While going out to eat can be tasty and fun so can eating in!

The challenge that many of us face is that we just don't know what to make for meals at home.

Actually MOST of us face this dilemma.

Well, Teresa has done something for you that can change your life if you do it. She has created the "30 Day Clean Eating Challenge." Let me tell you. It is awesome.
